Dentures & Partials
What are Dentures & Partials?
A full denture is a prosthetic that can replace missing teeth within the mouth. A partial denture is meant for patients who just need a few teeth replaced with a removable prosthetic appliance. Both types of dentures are made using high-quality and durable materials. Our goal is to provide you with a beautiful smile using comfortable denture appliances.
Why are Dentures & Partials needed?
If you are missing most or even all of your own teeth, you will find that your quality of life suffers. You won’t be able to chew, eat or even talk the way that you are used to. You may look older because your face and lips look sunken-in and wrinkled. You may not have the confidence to go out and meet new people because of the lack of dentition.
Who is a candidate for Dentures & Partials?
Our doctors can examine your teeth and gums to determine if you might benefit from dentures. If you need a denture, it is best to have the appliance made so that you can wear it any time that you want. The denture should be removed each night to clean it thoroughly before replacing in the morning. Most full and partial dentures can last for about seven years before they should be replaced.
What happens during the procedure for Dentures & Partials?
The actual procedure consists of taking impressions of the teeth and gums. These impressions are then used by dental technicians to craft a brand new denture just for you. You will come in after about one to two weeks to have the denture fitted. It is not uncommon to need a few adjustments for the denture is completely comfortable. You will then be instructed on how to care for your new appliance. You should still come in for regular checkup visits regardless of the type of denture you wear.
