Dental Bridges

What are Dental Bridges?

A dental bridge is meant to replace one or more missing teeth within the mouth. Bridges are made to mimic the look and even feel of real teeth. They attach to your own teeth, and the middle portion of the bridge contains the false tooth, which is known as the pontic. Your bridge can last for years without showing signs of wear.

Why are Dental Bridges needed?

A dental bridge is typically needed if you are missing a tooth. Rather than have an implant placed, a bridge can be used to replace what you’re lacking. This helps to fill in your smile and boost your confidence. Bridges are beneficial for restoring functionality as well, making it easier to eat and chew.

Who is a candidate for Dental Bridges?

The majority of patients who need a bridge can come in and have the procedure done. In fact, patients who aren’t necessarily good candidates for implants will find bridges to be more beneficial. Bridges are made for each individual patient, so they look as natural as possible. You can expect the new bridge to last for decades before it’ll need to be replaced.

What happens during the Dental Bridge procedure?

The procedure begins with our doctors administering a local anesthetic to the area. We then file down the two surrounding teeth. This helps to make room for the new bridge that will be placed over the top of them. We will take impressions of the teeth to create a new dental bridge. You will then come back in to have the bridge placed permanently. The bite is adjusted so that the bridge is as comfortable as possible for you. You are then ready to leave the office with a full and beautiful smile that you will enjoy showing off.
